The 2012 Chevrolet Silverado combines modern technology with the toughness expected of a full-size pickup. Its front grille and bumper have been given a sleeker look this year. Chevy is offering customers a choice of four new exterior paint colors: Silver Ice Metallic, Mocha Steel Metallic, Graystone, and Carbon Flash Metallic. Inside the vehicle, the driver can choose from two new interior color schemes. The 2012 Silverado now includes GM’s OnStar assistance and a new GPS navigation system that eliminates the hassle of using DVD-based maps. The onboard wifi powered by Autonet can create a mobile hotspot with a range of up to 150 feet.
Chevrolet offers the 2012 Silverado in four models: the 1500, the 2500HD, the 3500HD, and a gas-saving hybrid. The 1500 comes standard with a 4.8 liter V-8 engine that produces 302 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2500HD and 3500HD offer the same 6.0 liter V-8 engine, which produces 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. The hybrid combines gas and electricity to deliver 20 miles per gallon in the city and 23 MPG on the highway while still producing a respectable 332 horsepower and 367 lb.-ft. of torque. Each model is available in regular cab, crew cab, and extended cab trim. Customers can also add the Z71 package, which features heavy-duty suspension, skid plates, and larger tires for off-road driving.
